Research institute of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau

Two new buildings housing a research institute will complete the complex on which construction started in 1902. Accordingly, as well as addressing the challenges relating to the brief, use and dimensions, the building also has to consider formal, urban and environmental issues. The structure is economical in its order and simplicity, with singularities only where strictly necessary, and a constructive proposal that requires minimum maintenance. The latticework elements that provide solar protection also establish a connection with the textures and the colours of the old Sant Pau buildings.
