New Hospital Complex in Innsbruck

The project envisions a new hospital complex composed of several compact buildings organized on a shared podium, creating a clear and cohesive ensemble. Designed as modular and flexible structures, the buildings allow for phased construction and future adaptation. Their arrangement forms internal courtyards and green terraces, bringing in natural light, improving orientation, and strengthening the connection between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape. The urban strategy carefully integrates the complex into Innsbruck’s existing fabric. It responds to both the surrounding block structure and the openness of the mountainous landscape, establishing a defined street edge while opening toward public green spaces and pedestrian routes. This approach enhances accessibility and permeability across the site. Circulation is clearly structured, with separate flows for public, clinical, and logistical uses, alongside a legible hierarchy of entrances to support efficient navigation. Architecturally, the buildings are based on a regular structural grid and a transparent façade system, balancing efficiency with a calm, unified expression. Horizontal layering, integrated greenery, and accessible roof landscapes contribute to both environmental performance and visual coherence. Overall, the design creates a cohesive urban intervention that mediates between dense city fabric and natural surroundings, while delivering a flexible, functional, and human-centered healthcare environment.
