Maison 8 Care facility in Bascharage
This project is carefully embedded within its urban and landscape context, responding to topography and surrounding scale. Its height aligns with adjacent structures, including the nearby sports hall, ensuring a cohesive skyline that avoids visual disruption. The building’s compact footprint and figure-eight configuration create two protected interior courtyards that act as spatial anchors, bringing daylight, air, and greenery deep into the plan. These courtyards, along with the surrounding landscaped areas, are defined by curated vegetation that enhances sensory experience and supports resident well-being. A sustainable landscape strategy further integrates the project into its environment, with retention basins managing surface excess and reinforcing ecological responsiveness. Maison 8 is defined by clarity, efficiency, and a strong sense of orientation. The continuous circulation loop allows intuitive movement throughout the building, always reconnecting to central reference points, while communal functions are strategically placed at the heart of each level to encourage social interaction and accessibility. Resident rooms line the outer edges, maximizing daylight and outward views, supported by a careful orientation strategy that avoids north-facing rooms. The façade, composed of light-colored facing brick, conveys durability and warmth, while protruding metal window frames introduce depth and rhythm through shifting light and shadow. Low windowsills and finely calibrated shading systems further enhance comfort, balancing openness, privacy, and environmental control.
