Law courts in Sant Boi de Llobregat

A simple outline of three vertical bars containing the legal offices separated by courtyards and raised on a plinth is dramatically altered by a uniform skin of concrete slats that give the building a smooth, almost opaque appearance, though transparent from the inside. The vertical component of the concrete slats dominates, presenting a new kind of building, emulating the volumes of law books found on the shelves of lawyers and notaries offices. The concrete slats are arranged at different distances and different angles, in some cases to offer views from the inside and in others to prevent being seen from the outside.
