Arts Centre in Leioa
We choose silence. It was difficult to insert a work of public architecture into this context. A glass building, a silent, neutral box, like a parenthesis in the middle of a sentence. The floors above grade are containers for very varied functions. The theatre-auditorium with all its attendant service is inserted underground. The façades respond to the orientation and the urban context that surrounds the building. The external glass canopies on the west side and the indoor screens in the east are the only mechanisms capable of altering the desired neutrality.
