A New Learning Campus in Hoppegarten
The project acts as a link between the surrounding residential area and the adjacent natural landscape. It is carefully integrated into a park-like setting, extending existing green spaces and forming a continuous network of ecological and social connections. The placement of the building volumes creates a variety of outdoor areas such as schoolyards, sports fields, and community spaces each directly related to its function and connected through an intuitive system of pathways. This approach strengthens accessibility and encourages interaction between users, while positioning the school as an educational facility and an important social and spatial anchor within the broader urban environment. The architectural concept is based on the idea of creating a cohesive, flexible, and community-oriented learning environment. The center is a multifunctional foyer that serves as the main hub, connecting the school, daycare, and sports hall while allowing them to operate together and independently. The internal organization follows a “school within a school” principle, where classrooms are grouped into clusters around shared learning forums that promote interaction, collaboration, and informal learning. Strong visual and physical connections between interior and exterior spaces, including access to green terraces, support the concept of learning in close relationship with nature. The use of modular timber construction on a solid base enhances sustainability, efficiency, and adaptability, while also giving the building a warm and contemporary identity.
