History Museum in the Old Oliva Artés factory
The old Oliva Artés factory building is the new location of MUHBA, Barcelona’s history museum. The project sets out to exploit the building’s spatial quality and entice visitors in. It frees up the former factory floor to highlight its basilica structure, thereby maximizing flexibility and exhibition space, and introduces an outer entrance porch to ease transition from the gardens into the museum. The intervention employs sheet iron in keeping with the existing structural elements, which makes its way into the interior with the construction of all the features needed to adapt the space.
