A Future Town Hall in Berlin

The project is located in Berlin-Mitte near Alexanderplatz, within the redevelopment of the Haus der Statistik area, the project responds sensitively to its urban context. Its stepped, multi-volume form mediates between large-scale city infrastructure and surrounding residential buildings, creating a strong integrated landmark. The massing generates new public spaces and green terraces, while the architecture balances openness and solidity. Sustainable strategies including green roofs, solar integration, and a hybrid structural system. Supporting environmental performance and reinforce the building’s role as a forward-looking civic architecture. The Rathaus der Zukunft is designed as a contemporary civic building that combines public services, administration, and collaborative workspaces in a single, open structure. Its spatial organization follows a clear gradient from public to private, with accessible functions at ground level and offices above. A central circulation system connects these areas, encouraging interaction, transparency, and ease of movement. The building reinterprets the traditional town hall as an inclusive, flexible, and communicative environment for both citizens and employees
